Analog Defaults August 2026 Update

Analog Defaults

I launched my Analog Defaults page earlier this year to take a snapshot of my most used/favorite stationery products across many categories. It has been helpful to me in seeing what changes, and what stays the same, over longer periods of time. It has been five months since the last update, and I’m very happy with how my usage has shaken out.

There were a few changes I wanted to make, and you can see that noted on the updated page. The short version:

🖊️ Gel Ink Pen

Out: uniball One F, 0.38 mm Black

In: uniball One P, 0.38 mm Black

🖋️ Fountain Pen

Out: Pilot Explorer

In: LAMY Safari

📗 Journal

Out: PLOTTER Personal

In: MD Notebook B6 Slim Pen Addict Edition

👝 Pen Case

Out: Superior Labor Pen and Wallet Case

In: Rickshaw x Nock Co. Brasstown

It’s interesting to me to see how few changes there have been. I think that is a good thing, because my favorites and most used products remain my favorite and most used products. These aren’t the only products I use, of course, but my Analog Defaults are what’s always around, ready to jump into action. This list is my comfort stationery, if you will.

As I continue to think about this list, there are a few categories I use frequently but aren’t accounted for on the Analog Defaults page just yet. Multi Pen and Fountain Pen Ink are two or those - what else would you like to see?

Let me know in the comments below, and if you make your own Analog Defaults page, be sure to share it with me!

Analog Defaults Page Now Live

Analog Defaults

Having a page on the site that is a snapshot of my current most used products is something I always wanted to implement. Better late than never, right?

Analog Defaults is a new reference page, permanently linked in the top navigation bar. My intention is to keep this list actively updated, as products find their way to the top of my usage list. Some categories will have frequent turnover - Fountain Pens, for example - while others will see little, such as Highlighters/Markers. Multiple product pictures are probably a bad idea, but I’ll sort that out on the next revisions.

Head over and check out my Analog Defaults page, and let me know your thoughts. As always, this is a work in progress, so let me know how I can improve it.
