Diamine Inkvent Calendar Day 7

Happy Day 7 of Inkvent! I hope you’re enjoying Pen Addict’s daily reveal of these Diamine inks. Today’s ink might just make you want to snuggle close to that special someone.

Behind door 7 is Mistletoe. Pucker up everyone! Mistletoe is a standard green ink that definitely captures the color of the plant (well, it’s actually a parasite that attaches itself to our Arizona Ash tree, but still). The ink is a lovely green with excellent shading and a tiny bit of red sheen.

The ink performs well in all nib sizes. Once again, my photos of the ink on the Rhodia paper are a bit washed out. The ink’s color is closer to what you see on the Col-o-ring Card samples.

I really like Mistletoe. It’s not a showy color, but the deep sage tones and subtle shading make it a great choice for writing and maybe painting a few Christmas trees on cards. And, if you don’t have any real mistletoe handy, you can just dangle the little ink bottle above someone’s head and grab yourself a sweet holiday kiss.

Diamine Inkvent Calendar Day 6

We are already to day 6 in our Inkvent Calendar journey. I don’t know about you, but I’m beginning to panic because I’ve bought exactly one present so far, and I haven’t wrapped it yet. That thought does not make me very merry.

But, the ink behind door six is definitely merry. It’s called Ho, Ho, Ho--a name I love in spite of my Christmas anxiety. It’s a bright red standard ink with orange tones.

The ink is fairly flat. It doesn’t have any sheen and shading is minimal. The orange cast to the ink is visible in ink testing, especially on white Rhodia paper. My photos are a bit washed out, so keep in mind that the ink is slightly darker in real life.

I generally prefer cooler shades of red over warm, orangey reds, especially during the holidays. But, that’s just a personal preference. This ink evokes the pleasant hue of a winter sunset in Albuquerque, my hometown. I get so homesick this time of year--especially for the smell of piñon wood and the taste of New Mexico chile rellenos. Ho, ho, home.

Diamine Inkvent Calendar Day 5

Today’s ink reminds me of a Christmas book I loved as a child. It was a scratch-n-sniff book, and one of the pages depicted chocolate cookies fresh from the oven.

Triple Chocolaté ink makes my mouth water. It’s a rich milk chocolate brown standard ink with a tiny bit of shading.

The ink flows well and dries quickly. Although it looks as though there’s some sheen in my writing samples, that’s either a trick of the light or some leftover ink that bled out from my broad nib.

Triple Chocolaté is a good ink for drawing, painting, or writing. You might want to have some milk chocolate on hand just in case this ink gives you a craving.
