My fiance would tease me so much if I won this/bought one from JetPens. She knows how much I love pens and this would just be the kicker...sure would save my pockets, though!

Review: Pentel R.S.V.P Moonz Ballpoint Medium

Pentel R.S.V.P.This review is not going to be a happy maker for a lot of people, but I call 'em as I see 'em.  Always have, and always will.  The Pentel R.S.V.P. ballpoint pen line is one of the most popular around, but it is a pen I had never tried until seeing the cool looking "Moonz" barrel colors at JetPens.  The pen looks good, feels good, and writes incredibly smooth, but in the end, the ink performance was just too much to take.

I like the look of nice clean lines when I write, so that is the main reason I lean towards gel ink and liquid ink pens for everyday use.  I don't mind a good ballpoint, but it has to work perfectly for me to enjoy writing with it.  The ink from the Pentel R.S.V.P. does not work perfectly.  You can see from the written review that the ink clumps up at least once on nearly every line.  This leads to some uneven lettering and an overall messy look.  Not to mention the possibility of smearing the still damp ink.  I had already written off this pen, but when I went to write on the next page of my Doane Paper Idea Journal a couple of days later, I unfortunately discovered how badly the ink clumps bled through the page.  A ballpoint pen that bleeds through the page?  I had never seen such a thing, so I took a photo of that as well, which you can see below.  It's not as bad as if I were to take a Sharpie marker and hold it down on the page for a few seconds, but it is not behavior I expected, so it came as a big surprise.

I hate to bag on this pen so harshly, but under no circumstances will I ever be using this one again.

Giveaway: Nomadic PD-03 Upright Stand Pencil Case

Nomadic Pencil CaseI'm a sucker for a cool pencil case, and since the last giveaway for the Kokuyo NeoCritz Transformer case was such a hit, I figured I would put another case up for grabs.  The Nomadic PD-03 Upright Stand Pencil Case in navy (shown at right) will be awarded to one lucky winner.  The case features several pockets to separate your pens, pencils, leads, ink cartridges, erasers, or anything else you can squeeze into it.  I really like the layout of this case from an organizational perspective.  Here are the details from JetPens:

Nomadic is a case line from Japan that produces highly organized bags and pouches. It's a perfect fit with the on-the-go lifestyle of Asia.

This sturdy and stylish nylon pencil case acts like a pouch while on the go and transforms into an upright pen holder when in use. The case features two inner pockets to separate different writing instruments. There is also a small compartment on the base for easy access to erasers, etc. Round base has a diameter of 2.5 inches. Height when closed is 8 inches.

The rules are as follows:

1. Leave one comment on this post anytime between now, and Thursday night at 11:59 PM Eastern Time.  You are limited to one entry.  Feel free to link this giveaway on your blog, or share it with anyone you feel is a true pen addict.  If you have a blog, I would love a link back, but it is certainly not required for entry into the contest.

2. For this contest, I will pick one winner at random from the comments section of this post.  The comments will be numbered in the order they are received, i.e. the first comment is #1, the second #2, and so on.  The Random Integer Generator at random.org will be used to pick the number of the winner.

3. The contest winner will be posted on Friday, July 24th.  The winner will have one week to email me at the address posted in the right sidebar.

4. I will ship internationally.  I know there are many international readers and fans of The Pen Addict, and I will gladly ship to you at my expense.

Thanks, and good luck!
