Welcome Doane Paper! (and some blog maintenance)

I'd like to take a quick second to welcome Doane Paper as a new advertiser on The Pen Addict.  Chad Doane has been a great friend to the blog for as long as I can remember, and I of course am a huge fan of his Doane Paper products.  You can find the link to Doane Paper under the sponsors section of the right sidebar.  Be sure to check it out if you haven't done so already - it is really great stuff.

If you or your company would like to discuss advertising opportunities on The Pen Addict, please send me an email using the address on the sidebar.

I would also like to apologize to my Twitter followers for a bit of spam from me yesterday.  I launched The Notebook Addict as a sister site to this one last year, but I realized later that I liked all of the pen and paper posts in one place.  Since I am no longer updating that site, I wanted to merge the content into this site so that it is easily searchable.  I was successful in doing just that, but I didn't realize it would tweet every imported post, so I apologize for the burst of tweets.

That is all for today - carry on!

Review: Zebra Color Flight C Sparkling Mechanical Pencil - 0.5 mm - Snow White

Zebra Color FlightI tossed this pencil into the cart on a recent JetPens order really just because of the looks of it.  It reminded me a lot of the ultra popular Pentel Sharp line, of which I have a few still floating around the house here somewhere.  A few things make the Zebra Color Flight stand out though, not the least of which are the cool barrel colors.

It seems that white barrels don't get much exposure, or at least it seems that way to me.  Go to your local office supply store and take a big picture glance at the shelves and tell me how many white barrel pens or pencils you see.  Not too many I am guessing outside of the Bic Stic.  I think they look sharp when done right, and while I was worried a bit about the sparkling aspect of this pencil, it really is hardly noticeable.

I also like the twist mechanism of the eraser.  Eraser caps can be lost easily, so it is nice to be able to extend the eraser as needed without having to worry about misplacing the cap.  This is a very lightweight pencil as well.  If you have ever used the aforementioned Pentel Sharp, you would definitely be able to tell the weight difference between the two.  The Zebra is a featherweight.

All in all, this is a well functioning, fun looking pencil.  Not too shabby for $4.50.
