Review: Nomadic Upright Pencil Case

Nomadic Upright Pencil Case

I only have two of them so far, but Nomadic has quickly become my favorite pencil case maker.  I reviewed the Nomadic Roller a month ago, and this time around it is the Nomadic Upright's turn.

The biggest selling point about the Nomadic brand that I can see so far is the quality of the construction.  The nylon material used is heavy in weight, the stiching is tight, and the zipper works with ease.  Did I mention that this fire engine red is just downright sexy?  That's right.  All the ladies at the Barnes and Noble Cafe swoon when they see me break out this bad boy.  I'm a regular Ajay Bhatt.

Despite using this case for a couple of months now, I can't say that I have it all figured out.  My main difficulty lies with how I want to sort my pens within the various dividers on the inside.  Should they all go in the center two sections, outside of those sections, or clipped onto the middle?  I've gone with all of the above.  The dividers in the middle are nice, but they do get in the way a bit.  But they are there for a reason, and that reason is that this is an upright pen case.  The pens go in the pockets so that when you unzip it and stand it up, they are easily accessible, and pens don't go flying everywhere.  It is very well balanced when opened because of this.

It looks like I have 18 pens packed in the case in the photo above.  That is about the max you can fit in there.  There are a couple of side pouches on the inside, plus a small zippered compartment on the bottom that is a good home for a flat eraser or pencil leads.  Overall, this is another excellent case from Nomadic, and I look forward to trying out more of their products.

Review: Stabilo Point Visco 0.5mm Fine

Stabilo Point Visco

My written review sums up pretty well what I think about the Stabilo Point Visco, and that is I really don't know what to make of it.  If you see this pen on the store shelf and want to try it out because you like 0.5mm liquid ink pens, I reccomend that you don't buy them.  The ink flow is really heavy, making the line nowhere near the width I would expect from an 0.5mm tip.  That being said, if you like the wider line and can keep up with the pace of the ink flow, then you may want to give this pen a shot.  The faux pencil look of the barrel is done surprisingly well.  Combine that with a decent rubber grip and this pen gives a comfortable writing experience.

In the end, the main problem lies in the fact that this pen doesn't bring anything new or improved to the table.  There are dozens of other pens out there that do the same thing this pen does, and they all do it better.
