Giveaway: Jac Zagoory Scroll Pen

Jac Zagoory

It was a busy holiday weekend, but it is good to be back in the saddle, and I figure what better way to get the week started than with another great giveaway.  The Jac Zagoory Scroll Pen was provided by Jac Zagoory himself, and I am excited to share his love for writing instruments with one lucky reader.  Here are the pen details from jzpen.com:

Scroll pen in silver. Contains over 2 feet of refillable paper. The barrel (bottom of the pen) pulls out and extends itself so you can use it to write a note. Tear it off and give it to someone or simply scroll it back in to read like a journal later on. Perfect for spontaneous inspiration. This self contained office allows poets, artists and thinkers to capture precious fleeting thoughts. Handsomely boxed and includes two additional paper cartridges.

Again, big thanks to Jac Zagoory for providing this pen to me.  The giveaway rules are as follows:

1. Leave one comment on this post anytime between now, and Thursday night at 11:59 PM Eastern Time.  You are limited to one entry.  Feel free to link this giveaway on your blog, or share it with anyone you feel is a true pen addict.  If you have a blog, I would love a link back, but it is certainly not required for entry into the contest.

2. For this contest, I will pick one winner at random from the comments section of this post.  The comments will be numbered in the order they are received, i.e. the first comment is #1, the second #2, and so on.  The Random Integer Generator at random.org will be used to pick the number of the winner.

3. The contest winner will be posted on Friday, May 29th.  The winner will have one week to email me at the address posted in the right sidebar.

4. I will ship internationally.  I know there are many international readers and fans of The Pen Addict, and I will gladly ship to you at my expense.

Thanks, and good luck!

Ink Links

I want to make special mention of a new pen blog that I am really excited about called My Supply Room.  George emailed me several months back about the immense collection of pens he has from the 60s, and even teased me with a photo of all the goodies.  I was taken aback by the quality and quantity of his collection, and luckily for all of us, he has created a blog to review and explain everything he has.  Do yourself a favor and bookmark this one right away so you don't miss a single update of a really unique pen collection.

Review: Uni-Ball Signo Bit 0.18mm Pink

Uni-Ball Signo Bit

This is one of my all-time favorite pen barrels.  The design is really cool, it's comfortable, and as always with Uni-Ball, it feels really well made.  But no matter the amount of superlatives about the design, if it doesn't cut it performance wise I'm not going to be using it.  The Uni-Ball Signo Bit is one of the more frustrating pens I own in that aspect.

I want to use this pen so bad, but it never fails that I have to scribble it around a bit just to get the ink flowing.  This goes for the 0.18mm (which I have reviewed before in black), as well as the 0.38mm (which I have also reviewed in black).  Scratch, scratch, scratch just to get started writing is annoying.  Once it gets going it is fine, but even stopping for a short period delays it again.

If you click on either of the picture links you can see how crisp and clean the line is once started, so it is too bad that it causes so much drama out of the gate.  I love this shade of pink too.  The 0.18mm tip is as fine as it comes in a gel ink pen, so if you need this fine of line and can put up with the occasional dry spot, then this pen is great.  And being the true Pen Addict that I am, I have ordered a black 0.28mm Signo Bit to complete the trifecta of frustration.

One final note on the pink: it looks like this color, along with many of the other non-standard colors, are being discontinued by Uni-Ball.  JetPens mentioned on their Twitter page yesterday, stating the the Signo Bit will only come in black, blue, red, and orange in all of the tip sizes.
